Three words

Three words

There’s something that I want to say
I’ve wanted to for days
But I’m not sure of how to say
There are so many ways

I’m scared that you won’t say it back
And I’ll be left to hurt
I kind of wish you’d say it first
I don’t mind if you blurt

I’ve tried to think if simple’s best
Or let those words explode
Or maybe change your phone’s ringtone
And tell you in morse code

I guess that I must take this risk
Because you need to know
Of how much that you mean to me
That you make my heart glow

I hope these words shall warm your heart
Just like you warm my soul
So here’s three words for you my love
Because with you I’m whole

Christmas Love

Christmas Love

So now the evenings have drawn in
And fireworks fill the skies
I hold the hand of you my dear
And look into your eyes

We’ll take a walk down Oxford Street
And view the pretty lights
The sparkle that adorns your face
The best of all the sights

To snuggle down with curtains closed
The world is left outside
To laugh and smile and talk and kiss
To glee you are my guide

Our favourite film has now come on
And smiles now fill our faces
“You learned English” he says to her
As she says “Just in cases”

This moment that we have as one
With you I’m now complete
Because to me you are perfect
Adore you head to feet

Christmas 2015

Christmas 2015

As 2015 sees its end
And Christmas comes around
The twinkly lights come out to play
Around the tree, lights wound

A festive time to watch great films
There’s Die Hard, Notting Hill
For me it is Love Actually
That’s how I like to chill

As all the shops play Christmas tunes
And fill with lost dazed souls
The wrapping paper must be bought
You’ll need so many rolls

For some it is a painful time
To those we give our hearts
And as a laugh we’ll cheer them up
With brussel sprout based farts

So whether you’ll be close or far
To those who you hold dear
Be sure to smile and feel much pride
You’ve done another year

The Theory Of Everything

The Theory Of Everything

To view the beauty high up there
A mystery sits above
Eternal mysteries unexplained
Just like the one of love

The greatest mind of modern times
He seeks to understand
As terror reigns inside his soul
Declining strand by strand

A battle in the sky above
As stars shall live and die
Just like the sparkle seen at night
A new love comes to eye

The questions of the universe
He asks when did time start
And as he works his mind spellbound
By mysteries of the heart

The theory of everything
His mind is most sublime
This man who’s conquered so much, in
A brief history of time

Jack Frost

Jack Frost

As winter comes and darkness falls
A man comes out to play
This man who we all call Jack Frost
He sleeps during the day

And when our curtains close at night
And our eyes shut for sleep
This man who we all call Jack Frost
He comes up from the deep

The moon shines brightly down on him
And shows him where to go
This man who we all call Jack Frost
Must leave before sun glow

A painter of great works of art
His brush strokes there to see
This man who we all call Jack Frost
Leaves sights for us to see

And as the morning sun comes up
And wakes our sleepy heads
This man who we all call Jack Frost
It’s now time for his bed

Paris

Paris

As darkness fell along the Seine
This cool November night
La Tour Eiffel stood tall and proud
Aloft this place of might

As people left their homes for cheer
To laugh, sing songs, and eat
And time moved on from nine o’clock
The mood would soon change beat

That change in beat brought booms and bangs
As laughter turned to screams
And people ran, ran for their lives
There’s no hope left it seems

But then we saw what we’re about
A good and loving race
Where kindness reigns, see #PorteOuverte
The bad ones aren’t our face

Right now it is just still too raw
The heart ache needs to pour
But let’s do what the French do best
And open hearts and doors

Spoons

Spoons

I had these thoughts, they came to me
That I should go and write
A poem all about those spoons
Though forks may feature, right...

‘Cause spoons are great and bendy too
Though more for Uri Geller
A good friend to the king of pop
Whose moves were surely stellar

See, I use spoons when morning comes
I like cornflakes the most
Though true to say I sometimes change
And treat myself to toast

But back to spoons, must not digress
Their size important too
As some folk like their spoons quite big
Though small ones can work true

But folks it’s time to end these rhymes
We’ve had some fun with spoons
Though don’t forget about those forks
Whose prongs can make fine tunes

Faces

Faces

There’s loads of faces all around
But one is all I see
That face I see is yours my dear
My perfect cup of tea

The sound of talking all around
But I hear just one voice
Each word you say that comes to me
I smile inside, rejoice

The chorus of a thousand laughs
But your snort is the best
To be the one who made that come
I really feel most blessed

Ten thousand teeth sit on display
But yours shine out the most
But sat here as I am with you
By far my favourite host

It’s clear to me as we sit here
That you give me more glee
Than all these choices all around
‘Cause you’re the one for me

The Savoy

The Savoy

It was about this time last week
Where shoes were cleaned and shined
The time we booked was half past three
Where we’d be wined and dined

The setting of this birthday treat
Of course was The Savoy
The three of us were seated there
Two girls and just one boy

The ambience an air of grace
With beauty all around
The splendour of the décor called
The opulence abound

The staff became our new best friends
To meet Omar a treat
The tea divine, the food sublime
This place just can’t be beat

A real joy to visit here
This place is just a dream
Be sure one day to see this place
As smiles will be the theme

Toast

Toast

The gentle opening of the seal
A rustling meets our ears
To pinch the slice between each tip
We’ve eaten toast for years

To line it up then drop it in
And press the lever down
And let the toaster do its trick
‘Til bread turns golden brown

It takes much skill to get it right
As some like it more burnt
To learn the time you cook it for
It’s something we’ve all learnt

And then it's time for toast to pop
And dab the butter on
It’s really sad that spreadable
Appears to be a con

Enjoy your toast, this staple food
And munch and crunch away
Because my friends, there’s fewer ways
To start a better day

Thursday 24 September 2015

Smiles

Smiles

Some of them are crooked
And some show lots of teeth
But what a smile shows most of all
Is what lies underneath

A smile does tell a story
When neurons crash and meet
Which fill our souls with joy and glee
And felt from head to feet

A vision of pure beauty
They spread from cheek to cheek
They light you up when feeling sad
And things may feel quite bleak

All different shapes and sizes
I love to see this joy
To see those smiley faces there
If you’re a girl or boy

So don’t care how it breaks out
Just stand there tall and proud
And show your smile in all its charm
Let beauty shout out loud

Friday 11 September 2015

Tea

Tea

The hand is placed upon the tap
The water pours on out
It’s time to fill the kettle up
And have some tea, no doubt

A very British thing to do
So many issues solved
“Just pop the kettle on my dear”
It’s how we have evolved

There’s many types we like to drink
There’s herbal and there’s spiced
Or some just like a normal one
We can’t be arsed with iced

There are some folk who like to dunk
A biscuit of their choice
And when they get the timing right
There’s no doubt they’ll rejoice

That feeling of a warmth that soothes
And sets your spirits free
I think it’s time that we should have
Another cup of tea

Saturday 5 September 2015

Little bits

Little bits

On each and every single day
When I know you’re with me
I know that there is nowhere else
That I would rather be

The sun is always shining bright
The trains are never late
The smell of cut grass in the air
A line without a wait

My favourite month the whole year round
A warm drink when it’s cold
When sifting through a pan of dirt
My eyes see shining gold

That sense of when your thirst is quenched
A perfect cup of tea
When two thoughts come to merge as one
A buy one get one free

There are so many things in life
That bring us bits of glee
And all of these mean so much more
Since you have been with me

Thursday 3 September 2015

Refugees

Refugees

A name, an age, a person too
They have their hopes and dreams
Yet tales of greed, dehumanised
It’s sad to see these themes

A Mum, a Dad, a friend or child
With fear set in their eyes
They board the boat or train or truck
Around them filth and flies

The risks they take to leave their homes
And set sail for new shores
You think they’d leave if choice was there
And lands weren’t filled with wars?

For those who last a trip from hell
And aren’t seized by the tides
The last thing that they need from us
Is for us to chastise

I'd like to know how many souls
Must wash up on our sands
Before we learn to welcome these
And give them helping hands

Calming storms

Calming storms

When I’m with you my heart sings out
A cheerful tune it plays
I often feel it skip a beat
Can’t help but stare and gaze

The way I see my face light up
Reflecting in your eyes
A stream of oxytocin flows
And gives me all these highs

My breath speeds up with joy and glee
It’s like I’m in a dream
But true this is and here we are
From cheek to cheek smiles beam

The tales you tell me of your life
Enchanted by each sound
This book that’s made you who you are
Would be my gift to bound

I don’t know where this thing shall lead
But right now I’m just calm
So take my hand and walk with me
Let’s do this palm to palm

Tuesday 18 August 2015

Beginnings

Beginnings

The scene is set for minds to glow
With you I feel so calm
The angels in your eyes do dance
I take hold of your palm

A gentle little gaze at you
Enchanted by your smile
Although this time did not come quick
The wait was most worthwhile

A tender lean towards your face
My breath surrounds your ear
My skin pressed soft against your cheek
My lips speak something clear

They tell you that you’re all I want
With you there’s so much joy
I’d like for you to be my girl
And me to be your boy

It’s really simple just like that
I like you as you are
If you were in my night sky view
You’d be the brightest star

Yorkshire Day

Yorkshire Day

Well ee by gum tha’s wrote sum lines
For Yorkshire this one’s ‘bart
‘Cause see my pals it’s Yorkshire Day
That land’s a work of art

That fine green pleasant land gus far
It’s grand right o’er t’yonder
To stand up ‘igh above them hills
Fresh air which meks thi ponder

Then later on when t’sun goes down
An we gus back for t’snap
The call of golden puddings there
There’s nowt like that mi chap

If I were asked abart these hills
An’ asked to say what’s great
Tha’d not get much right arta me
Ad jus say it’s all reet

These lines are for all t’Yorkshire folk
An t’rhymes might be cack-handed
But know if I got stuck somewhere
I’d want here to be stranded

Bus stops

Bus stops

She was standing at the bus stop
As a wind rushed by
Revealed those eyes which sparkle
As I let out a sigh

I doubt she’s even seen me here
I’m just part of the haze
The times I thought I’ll just say hi
I’ve lost count of those days

She stands right there a work of art
Is her mind just as nice?
Her eyes tell me it’s likely so
I’m scared to throw the dice

A simple check upon her phone
A note from friend or beau?
For I would like be the one
Who makes sweet face glow

Dear girl who stands so sweetly there
A marker of each day
But scared I am of what could be
If I just said “Erm, hey…”

Tuesday 7 July 2015

Insecurity

Insecurity

I’ve had my scraps and sometimes lost
It’s true that I have scars
But do not doubt, that would be wrong
That I’ll shoot for the stars

I gave to you my fragile heart
And ask that you take care
The scars we see which reach its core
In true love we can share

Is it too much to ask of you
If I give you my soul
You’ll join me in this quest I’ve set
To help sew up this hole?

It’s true I’ve been hurt in the past
It’s something I must face
But know that I will look to you
To hold my hand with grace

It matters not if these are flaws
Because they make up me
And for our love to shine real bright
Respect for these must be

Tuesday 23 June 2015

Pure imagination

Pure imagination

On platform five, or platform six
A train pulls in and slows
It’s no surprise to me or you
We’re both in jeans for clothes

We’ll take a walk along the street
At first our words may stall
I hope you’ll see beyond the fact
That I’m not strong or tall

But now it’s time for treats for us
We’ll go have some high tea
And see inside each other’s minds
They’ll speak to you and me

And when light fades and Big Ben beams
We’ll find a nice calm place
To sit with dear Miss Gale and dog
I’ll see smiles on your face

I don’t know if this shall come true
These are just some vague plans
To spend time with you I’d like much
Who knows we might hold hands

Thursday 18 June 2015

Lights, camera, action

Lights, camera, action

I’ve charged up all the batteries
And packed a nice cold drink
I’ve checked the sites I think will help
To see some scenes I think

I’ve figured out the best lens
And picked a nice good spot
I’m ready now to take some pics
Let’s hope I get that shot

The lights shine bright across the scene
As generators purr
I hope the light holds out enough
I don’t want pics that blur

A laughter fills a sky that dims
As strangers strike up smiles
The cables for the lights go on
They stretch for miles and miles

A joy to see them shoot these scenes
These times I have grown fond
I wonder which film this could be
My friends it’s Bond, James Bond

Chips and Gravy

Chips and Gravy

The dance in the kitchen
Begins to take place
As kitchen utensils
They shall fill this space

The kettle is boiling
The granules sit still
Awaiting their fortune
To show off their skill

The chips do their own dance
They turn golden brown
As each second passes
We watch the countdown

And then comes the moment
When these two shall meet
To form this great marriage
And make a great treat

Three cheers for this great dish
Where joy does come from
The moment you tuck in
It’s om nom nom nom

Sunday 17 May 2015

St James's Park

St James's Park

The monarchs sit on one side
As MPs sit opposed
This green jewel sits in London’s heart
Where beauty is composed

The deck chairs dot the green landscape
With hampers full of treats
As people use their selfie sticks
That then into tweets

The notes breeze in from marching bands
Across the cool calm lake
The ducks shall swim towards stale bread
With ducklings in their wake

In spring the colours fill the air
A technicolour dream
As daffodils play host to all
The bridge sets out its theme

Stood once did smiley crocodiles
Where now stand ducks and geese
St James’s Park a gift for all
Where you shall find your peace

Friends

Friends

A poem about six great Friends
This won’t be a moo point
They often met at Central Perk
This was their favourite joint

This show just could not BE more great
It’s on when we’re awake
I’m not sure if we did find out
If they were on a break

If when it’s on it’s bound to be
For sure our favourite viewing
And while we watch we’ll say for sure
I’m good, and how you doin’?

Transponster is a job we know
Maurice the space cowboy
If WENUSes don’t come on time
They’ll sure be hell to pay boy

But do not fear the cat just smells
To you I say je te plis bloo
I hope you’ve liked this tribute here
And I’ll be there for you

The Coffee Shop

The Coffee Shop

I'm sat here turning pages
As the words call out to me
As you step in through the front door
You're there in front of me

And as I see you standing there
A picture of my dreams
The smile you paint upon your face
The best of all the beams

A gentle smile to send a sign
To you I shall return
A walk across reflective floors
The word “hi” comes in turn

The words that called sit dancing there
They call out to your eyes
And tell a tale right to your heart
That I might be that guy

That guy for whom you have dreamed of
Who'll share his love with you
So let’s sit here and call our words
Like tea our minds can brew

Saturday 9 May 2015

Favourite things

Favourite things

A fresh cool breeze, a summer's day
The chirping of the birds
The opening of my favourite book
To read those joyous words

A clear calm night, a full moon glows
The noise of babbling brooks
The tasting of my favourite meal
Which only Mum can cook

The sway of flowers in the wind
The feel of thick warm towels
To leave your windows up at night
And hear the hoots of owls

That feeling when your thirst is quenched
The smell of fresh cut grass
A gazing to a sky of blue
The sun bursts through the glass

These things above I love them so
They fill me with much glee
And all the things above my dear
Are what you mean to me

Thursday 30 April 2015

Vows

Vows

I promise that I’ll cherish you
And wipe your snotty nose
I pledge each morning when I wake
To love you head to toes

I make a pact with you today
To give you when you need
My shoulder for your head to rest
And mop the tears you bleed

I vow that I shall make you smile
And laugh ‘til you can’t breathe
Until the day my time ends here
Your side I shall not leave

I give my word that in the times
When our views don’t agree
That I will give this all my heart
And talk ‘til we find glee

Today we’re here to merge our souls
In front of you I stand
It’s only us we’ll ever need
I give to you my hand

Monday 27 April 2015

Jigsaws

Jigsaws

You stand right there as I walk past
As our eyes meet in time
This moment sees the world slow down
Our hearts as one they rhyme

I think it was your gentle smile
That drew me into you
It tells me that your soul is good
I can’t ignore this cue

My first words come with nervous tones
I hope this lets you know
That I care much of what comes next
I’d like this time to grow

I find the words to ask if you
Would like to have a drink
So we can sit and talk and laugh
It’s clear that there’s this link

And then right there we’d feel this joy
Where jigsaw pieces fit
The beauty in each others minds
At last we've both found “it”.

Sunday 26 April 2015

London Marathon

London Marathon

For months and months you worked so hard
Each day you had to train
No matter what the weather did
In sunshine and in rain

And then the date in April comes
It’s time to do your stuff
And hope the work that you put in
Will make it not too tough

A cool wind blows across Blackheath
The sight of all those shoes
The time has come, the klaxon sounds
Desires they must now ooze

The aches, the pains, the evil wall
That voice which screams to stop
It matters not how you got there
If ran, or walked or hopped

The streets are lined, in thousands came
They don’t know who you are
But cheered you on, of you they’re proud
Today you’re all our star

Saturday 25 April 2015

What I want for you

All I want for you

I see you strong just like a lion
I want to nurture that
I’ll always make sure you feel strong
You are your own big cat

I’ve loved you right from our day one
Just lovely as you are
I’ll never ask if you will change
Already you’re my star

Accept you here for who you are
Not for what you could be
‘Cause you as you is all I need
That’s what feels clear to me

To feed your mind to do the things
You have the passion for
Is what I plan to do with you
To see you smile more

And all I’ll ever want for you
As your devoted chappy
Is that you feel you’ve lived your life
Just want you to be happy

Friday 24 April 2015

Restored

Restored

It is my glory here right now
To have you by my side
I knew at once from when we met
I’d like you as my bride

I like that you are oh so kind
And see us all as one
And of the fact since I met you
My life’s been much more fun

That you bring out the best in me
Shows you are right for me
You’ve made sure I know this is real
And is not just a dream

You only let me worship you
If I agree the rules
That you shall worship me as well
So we’re two loved up fools

For you’ve restored my faith in love
That’s been your gift to me
I hope you know there’s no-one else
With whom I’d rather be

Saturday 18 April 2015

Wanting...

Wanting...

I want to fall in love with you
Your soul would make great smiles
This long road that we'd share as one
I think would go for miles

I want to fall in love with you
The way you'd speak and write
Would spur excitement up in me
And makes my flutters flight

I want to fall in love with you
For you would share with me
A goodness in your heart for all
That’s what I love to see

I want to fall in love with you
You'd give me strength inside
To stand there tall in front of me
To safety you would guide

I want to fall in love with you
Not sure yet who you are
But these I know the traits I want
In my bright shining star

The reason to wed

The reason to wed

When you’re not here I miss you so
There’s something that I miss
If you’re not here I know for sure
I can’t be in full bliss

I like to spend much time with you
But leaving is more tough
That photo of you on my phone
Gets me through times of rough

If you’re away have too much work
And do not have the time
Of course my dear I’ll understand
But things can’t be sublime

And when I learn that I’ll see you
My heart still skips a beat
I know we’ve been as one for years
To see you’s still my treat

So this is why I married you
Not ‘cause with you life’s great
But truly it’s that without you
I’d not have my best mate

Sunday 29 March 2015

The moment

The moment

I’d like it to be tactile
A sense of cute unease
A gentle stroke across the arm
Just like a freshening breeze

A nervous telling smile
And glancing of your eyes
This little dance inside our minds
Reveals a nice surprise

A brushing of your fine locks
To see more of your face
A fact that we’re both shy right now
Just makes a certain grace

Then move in ever closer
Accepted with much glee
It’s now clear that for both of us
It’s here we’d rather be

This moment as we sit here
Now filled with total bliss
The time is now here just for us
Where we’ll have our first kiss

Saturday 28 March 2015

Curiosity

Curiosity

It’s noisy in this room tonight
The music’s playing loud
But there is just one voice I hear
Among this rowdy crowd

The lights they flicker all around
The greens and browns and blues
But only yours have hooked me in
It’s these two that I choose

The chats they flow with so much ease
Your laugh leaves me so high
That smile of yours it lights right up
There’s diamonds in the sky

I know we met as friends tonight
My mind can’t help but think
That there’s just something going on
We just seem so in sync

I’m nervous what your text will say
Did you sense something too?
I feel a need to see you soon
And learn more about you

Moo Cantina Pimlico

Moo Cantina Pimlico

A stones throw from Pimlico
Just off Moreton street
You shall find this nice place
To drink or to eat

An Argentine flavour
With decor to match
They mix up their cocktails
Comes batch after batch

The clinking of glasses
And scrapes of clear plates
The rupture of laughter
As friends see their mates

The mix of fine people
From all walks of life
As they come to Moo
And forget all their strife

The girl in that black dress
She sure caught my eye
This place of fine sparkle
Leaves you on a high

Heart of gold

Heart of gold

You’re kind and that’s why I love you
Because you make me smile
It is for you’ve a heart of gold
I wish to tread the aisle

It is because your soul is good
And you are kind to me
That I did stand in front of you
And get down on one knee

You give me strength when I feel weak
And make me feel I can
So this is why I asked if you
Would let me be your man

When I am low and have no hope
You pick me up from deep
It is for this and so much more
That you I plan to keep

My love it is your heart of gold
Which shines so brightly so
With you in hand I know for sure
There’s nowhere I can’t go

I wonder if

I wonder if

I wonder if you wonder too
If we should be as one
That we’ve already found the one
That we should call our hun

I wonder if you see the sky
And look at all the stars
And ask yourself if I see them
As those we would call ours

I wonder if you hear a tune
Which makes your hairs stand up
And if it makes you think of me
With smiles and eyes closeup

I wonder if when nighttime comes
And you climb into bed
That just like me I picture you
I see you in my head

I wonder if you think of me
And think of us as two
‘Cause if you do I think it’s time
To say those words to you

Poetry and Puppets

Poetry and Puppets

It seems that today is about all the P’s
That is puppets and poems it’s true
The string guided creatures and verses of rhyme
Both can give quite a glorious view

For me I love poems I think this is clear
Though some puppets are rather cool too
I really like Elmo plus Virgil and Brains
If I had to but name just a few

Yeah the Muppets are cool and the Thunderbirds too
As a kid formed my Friday night viewing
Though I wasn’t so into the rock with the Fraggles
No that wasn’t on my TV’s queuing

For the poets there’s many, I quite like Wordsworth
And his tale of those beautiful flowers
As to me he’s like Knopfler of Dire Straits fame
I could listen to both for long hours

But aside from my favourites I’d like to point out
That on poems I've just launched a book
So if you would be so kind and click on the link
Then a star of these writings I’ll look.

Monday 16 March 2015

Maybe...

Maybe

I sometimes sit and wonder if
You are the one for me
Have I been blind and failed to see
It's you with I should be

I’m sometimes lost and feel unsure
If it’s friends or romance
I think deep down I’d like to know
How it would be to dance

I know that when I think of you
A smile shows on my face
But could I take the risk of loss
As you I’d not replace

I feel inside a sense of growth
It’s grown to something great
I sometimes think if saying hi
Could maybe just be fate

I’m not sure yet where my head lies
I think I need more clues
And then of course I’d have to see
Which option I should choose.

Sunday 15 March 2015

What is love?

What is love?

A question that is asked a lot
Is what is love to you?
To me it’s when you know someone
Adore them through and through

I think you must admire their soul
For looks just fade away
And see the dance inside their mind
The beauty of ballet

You must see all their blemishes
Just like an old LP
Of course it comes with scratches true
But played still gives you glee

You need to feel they add to you
And don’t make you feel drained
So even in those times of blue
They’ll help your spark regain

It’s not an easy thing to etch
A precious thing when found
So if you find it hold on tight
For you’ve something profound

Mother's Day

Mother's Day

Today it is our Mother’s Day
Our Mums shall know the score
That we love them and thank them for
The other three sixty four

I’d like to make it quite clear now
That my Mum is the best
I’m still amazed that I was not
Adopted and I’m blessed

We’re now at thirty two old years
Where she’s still there for me
Although I’m sure on most fine days
She’s quite keen to just flee

For some their Mums are not around
For them my heart just bleeds
I hope they won’t be scared to speak
Or tell us they have needs

However you shall mark this day
Thank her for hugs and food
And make sure that she knows for sure
Without her you’d be screwed

There for you

There for you

I see a lash that’s in your eye
I’ll brush it right away
And when you have a coughing fit
My drink clears your airway

We step outside, a cool wind blows
And makes your cold arms sting
My jacket that I brought with me
Around you I shall fling

You’ve stumbled on uneven ground
I know you’ve had a fright
For I am here you are OK
I’m here to hold you tight

When winter’s grip has taken you
You sneeze and feel rough
A tissue I shall hand to you
Make sure you eat nice stuff

I hope you know I’m there for you
For smiles and times of blue
I'll try so hard to do my best
And be right there for you

Be your own "the one"

Be your own "the one"

I wonder if you look at me
And see what I see too
I hope to God that you do not
As I would just say “shoo!”

Which goes against what others say
I hope that they are right
‘Cause if they are I’m most worthwhile
This gives me thoughts to fight

I think I have my focus wrong
It’s not one’s looks that count
The fact that I am good and kind
Is much more paramount

Though even when one’s looks do count
I still have special things
Like when my face lights up with bliss
In cheer to them glee brings

If I should choose to say I’m good
And worthwhile of your time
Then if you do pick me or not
My heart it will still chime.

Digital Love

Digital Love

I see you several times per week
Those are my favourite days
And in between those times I miss
By Skype or text love stays

I go to bed and text sweet dreams
Remind you you’re my dear
And wake up to a text from you
My face lights up with cheer

Each time I get a break from work
I take my phone in palm
It’s Whatsapp that I open up
The ticks just leave me calm

As when we see our ticks turn blue
There’s one thing on our minds
To type and laugh all warm inside
Our world’s so intertwined

It might be Skype or text or voice
They get me through the times
Until I see you next time dear
Our noughts and ones shall chime

International Women's Day

International Women's Day

For too many years they have just been “this”
And achievements were not recognised
But the brave ones did stand up and forced us to see
And at first their views just were chastised

Yes although still not equal, good changes exist
And to those yes we must raise a glass
To the brave ones who pushed us and made us see clear
That they’re more so much more than an ass

And although I am lucky that I have good folks
Who have taught me we’ve all the same rights
There’s still too many people who don’t accept this
Through awareness they’re all in our sights

See they’re now found in boardrooms, in sport and in space
And each day go to school more and more
‘Cause the drumbeat of passion inside of their hearts
Is increasing each day to a roar

But it’s clear the work’s not done and things still aren’t right
Though together we can make it happen
From the great Mrs Pankhurst to my Mum and friends
Keep on fighting, be brave, love your passion.

You are lovely

You are lovely

There’s beauty in you and it’s clear that is true
To those who cast doubt, well to them say “screw you!”
For some it’s more outside for some it is not
But do not let bad ones make you lose the plot

For you can do great things make folk laugh and smile
The gift of compassion will give many miles
And yes you work can work out that should bring you health
But be a good person this shall give you wealth

The wealth of well thought of, give goodness to all
If you’re mean to people that just makes you small
We all have our demons that we face each day
So be kind to others then we can all play

You’re lovely you are and I know you try hard
To those who can’t see that, from my life you’re barred
I will make my self worth sing out as my anchor
If you make me doubt this, then you’re just a [redacted]

Be kind and be good let your soul sing good songs
Each time you see meanness with cheer right those wrongs
And if you can say that you tackle your stuff
Make sure that you tell YOU, “You are good enough!”

Missing

Missing

I take the cover by the tip
To see an empty sheet
And as I climb into this bed
You are not here to greet

I snuggle down and use what’s here
Imagine you’re here now
And picture how cute we would be
My smile lights up my brow

But then I see this isn’t real
And that I’m all alone
My sighs they ripple all around
Without you my heart groans

I’m curled up here and missing you
My gravy to my chips
My book mark to my favourite book
I miss your soft sweet lips

With you not here I’m incomplete
I wish this wasn’t so
Perhaps if I can dream it true
In real life we shall grow

World Book Day

World Book Day

To turn the page or swipe to left
The words jump out at you
Just like when Mr Milne takes you
On trips with Mr Pooh

For me it’s Mr Dahl whose words
Just sparked something upstairs
His pretty little squiggles
Set about rising of hairs

Matilda is my favourite one
The good wins over bad
And shows that if you’re mean to folks
You’ll make the good ones mad

And if you make the good ones mad
They’ll just keep reading more
To spur imagination on
The author’s pen shall draw

And when they draw a work of art
Our neurons shall rejoice
Because they help us learn and think
And help us find our voice

Bob

Bob

I’d like to introduce my friend
He lives inside my head
And for this note his name is Bob
He fills my mind with dread

Of course he’s not a real thing
I know his voice is mine
But this voice tells me I can’t do
A lot of things, the swine

See Bob tells me I look a mess
That people laugh at me
Or tells me if I do that thing
I'll think I need to flee

He’ll say that I’m not good enough
I don’t deserve the best
‘Cause I have failed so should be sad
I’ll likely fail the test

I don’t like Bob for what he says
That he’s made me not strong
I think it’s time to ask myself
But what if Bob is wrong?

Eyes

Eyes

Our lens on life they see so much
Each blink takes a new snap
Important though each night we must
Give them a long good nap

Though even when we’re fast asleep
And fairies work away
We see so much with other eyes
The day’s events replayed

In those we love and care about
They sparkle brightly so
Their diamonds twinkle graciously
We see their hearts which glow

And if we’re feeling sad and glum
And can’t express our thoughts
Our eyes can rain and call for help
To say we’re out of sorts

They say so much about us all
A view into our souls
Be sure to see all that you can
From these two special holes
